Two sheltered sandy bays lined with seagrass meadows — Abu Dabbab and Marsa Mubarak — host a small resident population of dugongs that are extraordinarily tolerant of snorkelers. Abu Dabbab is shore-accessed, while Marsa Mubarak is boat-accessed from Port Ghalib. Best visited before 09:00 when the dugongs feed closest to shore and before resort groups arrive. Also home to large green turtle populations.
