Around 2,000 belugas gather in the shallow warm-water estuary of Cunningham Inlet each July-August to moult, socialize, and raise their calves. Accessed only via fly-in lodges (such as Arctic Watch), this site offers land-based watching from the banks where belugas pass within a few metres of shore. Often combined with musk ox and polar bear sightings.
