The remote Mergui Archipelago (Myanmar) and neighboring Similan Islands / Richelieu Rock (Thailand) are some of the last Southeast Asian strongholds where divers still occasionally encounter the bowmouth guitarfish. Western Rocky and Fantasea Reef are historical hotspots. Liveaboard trips run during the Andaman dry season.
