Orcas follow herring migrations around the coasts of western Iceland, often putting on dramatic aerial displays. The Snæfellsnes Peninsula offers sightings from December to June against photogenic backdrops like Kirkjufell. Icelandic orcas vocalise at unusually low frequencies (around 50 Hz) and herd herring at night, adaptations specific to high-latitude orcas. Húsavík is an alternative summer option.
