Fauneya

The wildest and most remote lemur destination in Madagascar — a peninsula of pristine rainforest meeting the sea, accessible only by boat from the coastal town of Maroantsetra. The star species is the spectacular red ruffed lemur, endemic to the Masoala Peninsula, with its striking russet coat. The legendary aye-aye, Madagascar's most bizarre and elusive lemur with its rodent-like teeth and elongated middle finger, is also found here though rarely seen. Humpback whales calving offshore from July-September add a remarkable marine-terrestrial double-feature.
