Each summer, hundreds of Triakis semifasciata leopard sharks settle over the sandy flats of La Jolla Shores and Marine Room beach in one of North America's most accessible wild shark gatherings. Snorkelers and kayakers float above resting sharks in just one to three metres of water, making this a rare zero-barrier big-fish encounter. Warm nearshore water from July through September draws the densest congregations before sharks disperse in autumn.
