Fauneya

One of the largest Cape fur seal colonies on Earth, with up to 210,000 animals crowding the rocky shore of Cape Cross on Namibia's Skeleton Coast during peak breeding season (November-January). The noise and smell are overwhelming — and unforgettable. A boardwalk allows viewing at close range. Often combined with Walvis Bay's playful sea lion snorkelling boat trips further south. Brown hyenas and jackals patrol the colony edge, feeding on pups and carcasses.
