The Duba Plains in the northern Okavango host the biggest lions in Africa — water-adapted, muscular and up to 15 % larger than average. They famously hunt buffalo in broad daylight, a behaviour unique to this semi-aquatic habitat. Peak season is the dry season flood (June-October), accessed by fly-in from Maun.
