The Grampians, about three hours west of Melbourne, are one of the best places in eastern Australia to see Eastern grey kangaroos in the wild. Hundreds graze on the open grasslands around the Halls Gap township, especially on the golf course and sports oval at dawn and dusk. Combines easily with spectacular hiking on Mount Abrupt and the Pinnacle lookout.
