Widely regarded as India's finest tiger reserve and the inspiration for Rudyard Kipling's 'The Jungle Book'. Around 100 Bengal tigers roam nearly 2,000 km² of sal woodlands and open meadows. Kanha is also the only home of the endemic Southern Swamp Deer (Barasingha).
