Around 1,750 Asian elephants inhabit the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, forming one of Asia's most significant wild populations. Best explored from jeep or elephant-back safaris between November and April, when the park is open (it floods during the monsoon). Also home to the greater one-horned rhino and the occasional tiger.
