Cenderawasih Bay is Indonesia's best known year-round whale shark hotspot, where sharks regularly feed around bagan fishing platforms and may suck baitfish directly from the nets. Encounters are possible throughout the year, but the main liveaboard and tourism high season is typically August to October.
