Dauin on Negros Island and Anilao on Batangas are the Philippines' top macro diving hubs, reliably delivering thorny, tigertail, common, and several pygmy seahorse species. Dive operators employ dedicated macro guides whose eyes are trained to spot animals only centimetres long. Year-round diving with March-May typically the best visibility. Pair with whale shark snorkelling at Oslob (note: the Oslob operation is controversial and not recommended by eco-conscious travellers — Donsol is the ethical alternative).
