Thousands of California leopard sharks (Triakis semifasciata), mostly pregnant females, gather each summer in waist-deep water along the southern end of La Jolla Shores. Peak August-September. Simply wade in, snorkel, or kayak to see them; completely harmless to humans. The warm shallows are believed to accelerate gestation.
