The protected waters of the Sea of Cortez, often called the 'Aquarium of the World' by Jacques Cousteau, host blue whales between January and April as they return from Alaskan feeding grounds to breed and calve. Loreto Bay National Park offers small-boat encounters, often with whales visible just a few hundred metres from shore. Pair easily with whale shark snorkelling and gray whale lagoon visits further north at San Ignacio.
